College of the Desert (COD)
partnered with the Girl Friend Factor to present a seminar entitled,
“Going Back to School and Still Having A Life” to motivate women to
return to college. The course
emphasizes positive thinking and personal success as well as Career
and Life Planning and Personal Exploration.
Thirty-one students successfully completed the course which
fulfills a general education requirement to transfer to a California
State University. A
prerequisite is not required to register for the class and it is a
safe environment with others who have experienced life and are ready
to pursue the dream of a college education. Motivational speakers
are invited to make class presentations, such as professionals from
the Betty Ford Center.
The Girl Friend Factor is a
local women’s organization that encourages women to return to
college to achieve self sufficiency and financial advancement. The
Go Girl Campaign has proclaimed January to be National Go Education
Month.
