Effective Practices for Nontraditional Students

San Jose City College is an Approved Electrician Apprenticeship Curriculum Provider

San José City College uses authentic, active union apprenticeship connections to train women in non-traditional careers to their gender. By connecting students to certifications approved for union apprenticeships the program ties students to industry leaders for future career development.

The College has been approved by the State’s Electrician Certification Curriculum Committee as an approved provider training for GENERAL ELECTRICIAN. Courses currently approved for fulfillment of certification training hours include:

  • Air Conditioning 121
  • Construction 102B, 106, and 107
  • Facilities Maintenance Tech 104 and 122
  • Math 310 and 13.

Students who enroll in these courses are eligible to register with the California Division of Apprenticeship Standards as an electrician trainee and log hours of work experience completed under the supervision of a certified electrician.
