Goal: City College of San Francisco Courses offered at times to support Special Population Students CCSF
Campuses Mission and Southwest offer weekend and night classes that accommodate working adults. One student was quoted on the web site:
I’m a mother of two and grand-mother of two. When I decided to go back to school, I picked Southwest, (CCSF Campus), because it’s compact, personal, and has easy access—I’m disables with arthritis. The program is set up around my everyday needs…classes are set up for me and the teachers are picked to meet my needs. I can also get a tutor if I need one.
The Working Adults Degree Program (WADP) focuses on the general education requirements necessary for Associates’ or Bachelors’ degrees. The Mission Campus WADP has over 70 general education classes that meet at a variety of times during the day, evening or weekend. The Mission Campus is located at 1125 Valencia between 22nd and 23rd and is convenient to both BART and Muni routes. The convenience of the Mission Campus and its smaller size make it attractive to WADP students.
In addition to the regular semester-length classes offered at the Mission Campus, the WADP has offered some courses that last for only 6 weeks. During the designated 6 weeks, the classes meet on Friday nights from 6:00- 10:00 p.m. AND on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. These accelerated classes have proved popular with students who want to fit in another class in a short time period.
The WADP is characterized by a high degree of support and priority registration. The program advisor works closely with students to help them stay focused on reaching their educational goals in the shortest possible time. To be part of the WADP, students must take at least one class at the Mission Campus. As long as that condition is met, priority registration is possible for necessary classes that may not be available at the Mission Campus.
