National Resource: Climbing the Ladder to Nontraditional Careers and Gender Equity Tool Kit

The Tool Kit was developed by the Illinois Office of Educational Services. It is designed to assist educators, counselors, parents and students to identify and develop a plan to make student career decisions based on skills and talents regardless of the traditional assignment of such choices by gender or other societal restrictions. In addition to providing background information of legal aspects, and employment laws regarding equity, it addresses , among other topics, guidelines for gender fair use of language, tips for implementing and promoting equity in the classroom, instructor self awareness activities and checklists for retention of nontraditional learners.
