Cerritos College: Aerospace Retraining Program

Cerritos College’s Engineering Design Technology Department retrains both employees and students through engineering design software courses including AutoCAD, Autodesk;3-ds MAX DESIGN, Mechanical Desktop, MAP 3-D, Inventor, SolidWorks, and CATIA. According to Farid Wissa, chairman and professor of the Engineering Design Technology Department, these programs are highly desired by regional employers seeking to hire highly qualified and well trained employees. “Engineering companies are in need of good designers to be part of their team,” Wissa said. “Aerospace firms need engineering software designers to contribute to the building of high numbers of airplanes in years to come.” Classes were launched on January 11, 2010. The program has course credit transfer agreements with California State University, Los Angeles; California State University, Long Beach; and other surrounding universities.
