Economically Disadvantaged/All Special Populations

College of the Canyons. e2e (Education to Employment) Initiative

This program gives presentation to Career Technical Education classes to educate students on the benefits of declaring their majors and the need to file petitions in order to receive degrees or certificates. Course offerings are determined by student need and knowing the number of students majoring in a particular area informs this decision. When the school is contacted by employerz with job openings or internships, the college then knows which students to refer to those opportunities. Certificate or degrees are not automatically issued and cannot be back-dated to the year the coursework was competed and yet are very useful in the job market. The in-class presentations also focus on the need to be job ready and students are invited to meet with a CTE Career Advisory to draft resumes, explore internships and job opportunities in the community and to address their soft skills. Students are given an e2e quick guide that covers all of this information.
